Amanda Bossard graduated from high school in 1992. She then began her studies in marine science at Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage. Bossard started her professional career in the field of commercial fish worker in the year 1999. She started working with the ship F/V Sunset an a65' halibut-schooner which was converted into a Salmon tender, in the name of Murat Aritan, who worked as a commercial fisherman since 1993. Bossard has been is married to Aritan and the couple has come together to prove their rights to the industry. They're both supporters of conservatism and sustainable renewable resource management. In 2007, now a mother of two young children Bella aged 3 and Andre 1 Bossard before returning to her home in Philadelphia established a direct market wholesale seafood distributor known as Otolith. The husband of the business has a lengthy career in the fishing industry and often they are separate for a period of five or more months. It is during this time that they are focusing on their environmental and financial goals. Bossard along with her two children Andre 10, and Isabella 12 return every year in Southeast Alaska as deckhands to harvest wild salmon during summer.
